On November 11, 2022, one of the key political events of the year will take place in Samarkand – Uzbekistan hosts the summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.
The members of the organization are Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey and Uzbekistan. Hungary and Turkmenistan have observer status.
The Organization of Turkic States, formerly the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking States (Turkic Council), was established on October 3, 2009.
On November 12, 2021, the VIII summit of the organization was held in Istanbul, where important decisions were made on the future of the association, including the renaming of the Council into the Organization of Turkic States.
During his speech at the Istanbul Summit, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed his conviction that the decision to rename the Turkic Council into the Organization of Turkic States will provide a solid foundation for the further development of our cooperation. This important step will raise the organization's activities to a qualitatively new level, significantly increase its role and authority in the international arena.
Therefore, it is quite logical that the countdown of publications in the new section of the “Dunyo” IA, called “Uzbekistan and OTS”, begins with the Istanbul Summit.
