The President of Uzbekistan spoke in favor of further developing inter-parliamentary relations
On January 24, as part of the state visit to the People’s Republic of China, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China Zhao Leji.
During the conversation, the highest level of relations between Uzbekistan and China was noted with satisfaction, and confidence was expressed that the current visit would give a new powerful impetus to enhancing the comprehensive strategic partnership.
In recent years, the trade turnover has doubled, and the number of joint ventures has tripled.
Interregional cooperation has expanded, as evidenced by the fruitful results of the first Uzbekistan – China Interregional Forum, held on January 22 in Urumqi.
China’s experience in the fight against poverty is being actively implemented.
Interest was expressed in creating joint centers for training specialists in technical areas, studying China’s experience in social protection and insurance, and targeted assistance to the population.
The need to expand inter-parliamentary dialogue and intensify the activities of Uzbekistan – China friendship groups was emphasized.
Particular attention was paid to issues of effective parliamentary control over the practical implementation of agreements at the highest level.
Views were exchanged on issues of strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties.
The Chinese Culture Days in Uzbekistan last year, as well as the events taking place in the city of Beijing as part of the Uzbek Culture Days, were noted with satisfaction.
