The national flag of the Republic of Uzbekistan has proudly flown abroad as a symbol representing the Republic of Uzbekistan in international relations.
Let us recall the most important historical facts and events at which the flag of Uzbekistan was raised for the first time.
The Law “On the State Flag of the Republic of Uzbekistan” was adopted on November 18, 1991, at the Extraordinary VII Session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and from that day the State Flag of the Republic of Uzbekistan was raised high in Uzbekistan as a symbol of independence, freedom and stability.
On March 2, 1992, the Republic of Uzbekistan became a member of the United Nations. Since that day, the flag of Uzbekistan has been proudly flying at the UN Headquarters in New York.
Uzbekistan as an independent country became a member of UNESCO on October 26, 1993. The country actively participates in the work of this organization in all areas. Starting from this date, the flag of Uzbekistan flies in front of the headquarters of the organization, in Paris.
The 372nd cosmonaut of the world and the first cosmonaut of Uzbekistan Salijan Sharipov made his first space flight, which lasted from January 23 to 31, 1998. He also planted the flag of Uzbekistan at the North Pole.
On June 1, 2021, Uzbek climber Sergey Denisenko conquered Everest and planted the flag of Uzbekistan there. It was the first ascent of Uzbekistan representative on the famous mountain.
