Report on road construction projects presented

There are more than 184 thousand kilometers of roads in our country. According to analyzes, 25 percent of our roads of international importance are operating under heavy load. For example, 45 thousand vehicles travel on the Tashkent-Samarkand road, which is designed for 32 thousand vehicles per day. Due to traffic jams, sometimes it takes up to 6 hours. By 2030, the traffic intensity may exceed 80 thousand.
The resolution of the President of Uzbekistan dated October 10, 2023 set out the prospects for the organization of modern highways. The main goal of this is, first of all, to create convenience for the population and strengthen logistics chains in the national economy.
In accordance with this resolution, work is underway to build alternative roads leading from Tashkent to Samarkand and Andijan. In particular, the Tashkent-Andijan highway was designed with the participation of the World Bank. An international tender for its construction was announced in January. In a short time, more than 30 reputable foreign companies expressed interest in it.
As a result of the commissioning of this expressway, with a total length of 314 kilometers, the travel time between Tashkent and Andijan will be reduced from 5 hours to 3 hours. It will also increase the gross domestic product by 2.6 percent and reduce traffic accidents by 40 percent.
Another project is aimed at building an additional road connecting Tashkent and Samarkand. Its feasibility study was developed with the participation of foreign experts. The length of this new road will be about 300 kilometers. As a result, the travel time between Tashkent and Samarkand will be reduced from 4.5 hours to 2.5 hours. Traffic jams on the current road will be significantly reduced.
In general, these new roads will meet all modern requirements, be alternative and convenient. They will provide various paid services for drivers and passengers. Local construction companies will also be able to participate in the construction process.
