The President of Uzbekistan receives the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan

The distinguished guest conveyed to the President of Uzbekistan the sincere greetings and congratulations of the Prime Minister of Japan Shigeru Ishiba on the occasion of Uzbekistan’s Independence Day.
At the meeting, issues of strengthening the strategic partnership and expanding multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan were discussed.
Particular satisfaction was expressed with the ongoing active contacts and the dynamic development of practical cooperation. The fruitful results of today’s first meeting of the Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue between the two countries were highly praised.
Trade volumes are increasing, and significant investment projects involving leading Japanese companies are being implemented. On August 17, events marking Uzbekistan’s National Day were successfully held at the World Expo 2025 in Osaka.
Special attention was given to deepening political dialogue and advancing specific projects in trade, economic, investment, financial-technical, and cultural-humanitarian cooperation.
Support was expressed for plans to expand the activities of the Uzbekistan – Japan Center and, in the future, to establish a joint university on its basis with the participation of leading Japanese universities.
An exchange of views also took place on the international and regional agenda, including the upcoming summit in the “Central Asia + Japan” format.
