Uzbekistan – country of interethnic harmony and religious tolerance
Fergana city hosted a regional roundtable discussion on “Ljubljana Guidelines of the OSCE and the policy of interethnic accord in Uzbekistan”.
The event was attended by the First Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Director of the National Center for Human Rights Akmal Saidov, Chairman of the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Ties with Foreign Countries under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan Rustam Kurbanov, Political Adviser at the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities Anton Thomsen.
The heads of national cultural centers, representatives of NGOs from Fergana, Andijan and Namangan regions, as well as OSCE coordinators also took part in the event.
Jamshid Khotamov, Deputy Hokim of Fergana region, informed about the ongoing work in the region to ensure interethnic harmony, mutual respect and friendly relations based on the tasks identified in the New Uzbekistan Development Strategy for 2022-2026.
Director of the National Center for Human Rights Akmal Saidov noted that the work carried out in Uzbekistan to ensure interethnic harmony on the example of the experience of Fergana region is worthy of popularization around the world.
