On February 27, draft documents aimed at developing industry, services, and infrastructure in Tashkent city were presented to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The state program for the implementation of the Uzbekistan-2030 Strategy in the Year of Support for Youth and Business defines goals and objectives to support the development of entrepreneurship, the efficient use of water and other natural resources, the implementation of the tourism potential of the regions, and the improvement of living conditions of the population and the infrastructure of cities.
At today’s meeting, issues of organizing this work in the capital were discussed.
To facilitate the implementation of investment projects of business entities in Tashkent, the Tashkent Investment Company JSC was established. The company has been assigned tasks to implement investment projects based on vacant land plots and public-private partnership projects, including renovation projects.
In this regard, a simplified procedure for implementing projects on public-private partnership terms and procedures for implementing renovation projects in the capital and cooperation based on a “life cycle contract” is being approved.
Information was provided on creating a special industrial zone “Yangi Avlod” (New Generation) to increase the industrial potential of the capital and launch high-tech production. On the territory of the industrial zone with an area of 664.5 hectares, it is planned to attract foreign direct investment worth $1.5 billion, create 2.5 thousand new jobs, produce industrial products worth more than 1 trillion UZS per year, and export $5 million.
Proposals for developing tourism services and infrastructure in the capital were also considered.
To this end, it is planned to implement a corresponding program of measures in Mirabad, Almazar, Chilanzar, Uchtepa, Shaykhantakhur, Yunusabad, Yakkasaray, and Yashnabad districts, including the organization of gastronomic tourism streets and artisan streets, building modern trade and service facilities, hotels, the creation of green and recreational areas along channels.
The need to organize this work at the mahalla level by identifying their growth points, specialization in certain activities, and landscaping of territories with the widespread use of the “Andijan experience” was noted.
The Head of state approved the submitted draft documents and proposals and gave the responsible persons several instructions for the high-quality and efficient organization of their implementation.
