President of Uzbekistan arrived in the Republic of Karakalpakstan
TASHKENT, August 20. /Dunyo IA/. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and got acquainted with the region’s industrial potential, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
According to the press service of the Head of our state, the JV Nukus Eleсtroapparat was put into operation in 2017. It produces power equipment for power grids. In June this year, a project for the production of solar panels worth more than $10 million was launched here. The equipment was delivered and installed from the Republic of Korea. The production process is fully automated. The project’s annual capacity is 273 thousand units.
This will contribute to further introducing alternative energy in the country. To date, solar panels with a total capacity of 600 megawatts have been installed in various buildings and houses, and this process continues.
Along with localizing products in demand on the domestic market, the joint venture had the opportunity to export products worth $4 million, creating 70 jobs.
The Head of state got acquainted with the technological process and talked with the workers. The responsible persons were instructed to increase the number of such enterprises and manufacture products with high market demand.
The products manufactured by the industry enterprises were also presented here.
The plant itself has solar panels with a capacity of 125 kilowatts. The generated electricity is used for internal needs, and the surplus is sold to the regional power grid.
In recent years, 10 solar and wind stations with a total capacity of 2.6 gigawatts have been commissioned in the country due to investments of $2 billion. Work is also underway on 32 green projects with a capacity of 18.6 gigawatts at a total cost of $19 billion. In general, it is planned to increase the share of renewable energy sources in the energy balance to 40 percent by 2030.
