Leaders of Uzbekistan and India discussed further deepening of the strategic partnership

The President of Uzbekistan warmly congratulated the Prime Minister and the friendly people of India on the upcoming national holiday – the country’s Independence Day – sincerely wishing peace, well-being, and prosperity.
Current issues related to further deepening the strategic partnership and multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and India were reviewed.
It was noted with great satisfaction that, in line with the agreements reached, practical cooperation is developing dynamically, with active and productive contacts continuing at various levels.
Since the beginning of the year, trade turnover has increased by 60 percent, and about 40 new joint ventures and cooperation projects have been launched. The current portfolio of promising projects with leading Indian companies has reached two billion US dollars. Four branches of Indian universities are also successfully operating in Uzbekistan.
The leaders paid special attention to the promotion and implementation of cooperation projects in such areas as the pharmaceutical and chemical industries, the digital economy, energy, the mining sector, agriculture, construction, tourism, and others.
Issues related to the development of efficient transport and transit routes within the framework of the North-South Corridor were discussed.
The importance of successfully holding the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission in Tashkent was emphasized. It was proposed to organize mutual Culture and Film Days and to intensify exchanges at the regional level.
The President of Uzbekistan and the Prime Minister of India also exchanged views on the regional agenda and reviewed the schedule of upcoming high-level events.
