The President of Uzbekistan and the King of Jordan agree to elevate bilateral cooperation to a new level

The discussions focused on the further development of political dialogue and cultural-humanitarian exchanges, as well as the expansion of trade, economic, and investment cooperation.
At the beginning of the meeting, the King of Jordan expressed sincere gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan for the invitation and for the warm and cordial welcome extended to the Jordanian delegation.
It was emphasized that this first-ever high-level visit in the history of diplomatic relations will open a new stage in bilateral cooperation and make it possible to raise it to the level of a comprehensive partnership.
The strengthening relations of traditional friendship and multifaceted practical cooperation between Uzbekistan and Jordan, as well as the similarity of reform strategies being implemented in both countries, were noted.
The leaders expressed satisfaction with the effective interaction and emphasized the need for the active continuation of mutual support for initiatives within the framework of the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and other international bodies.
The importance of continuing constructive dialogue between the foreign ministries of the two countries and maintaining close interagency contacts was underscored.
Commitment was confirmed to significantly increase the volume of bilateral trade, to implement joint investment projects, and to carry out trade contracts in practice.
An agreement was reached to expand cooperation in such areas as the chemical and textile industries, smart agriculture, geology, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, tourism, and other sectors.
It was proposed to launch an Intergovernmental Commission and a Business Council, with their first meetings to be held by the end of this year. The Uzbekistan – Jordan Business Forum, featuring leading companies and producers from both countries, aims to foster long-term partnerships between business circles.
Readiness was expressed to intensify cultural, educational, and tourism exchanges, including through the organization of joint culture weeks, concerts, expositions, and exhibitions.
The friendly ties between the peoples of Uzbekistan and Jordan have a long history and today are receiving new momentum for development. In this context, issues were discussed regarding cooperation in the joint study of shared spiritual heritage and the strengthening of collaboration between the research centers and institutes of Islamic studies of the two countries.
The parties reached a common understanding on the need for the joint promotion of the ideas of tolerant and enlightened Islam. The President of Uzbekistan highly appreciated King Abdullah II’s Aqaba Process initiative, launched 10 years ago, and proposed holding one of its upcoming sessions in the city of Samarkand.
It was noted that the launch of regular flights between the capitals of the two countries and the introduction of a visa-free regime will contribute to the growth of business contacts and an increase in mutual tourist flows.
An exchange of views also took place on current issues of the global and regional agenda.
Following the talks, King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein extended an invitation to the President of Uzbekistan to visit Jordan.
The negotiations were held in a constructive, open, and trusting atmosphere.
